Fresno Chaffee Zoo

Stingray Bay, Dino Dig, Valley Farm, Sea Lion Cove, African Adventure, and Ross Laird’s Winged Wonders Bird Show are among the attractions of the Fresno Chaffee Zoo, which is located in Roeding Park in Fresno, California, and covers 39 acres and houses over 190 species. The Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) has accredited the zoo, and it is a member of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA). Around 1908, the zoo was established. The Roeding Park Zoo was formally recognized by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) when it opened in 1929. In the 1940s and 1950s, the zoo expanded significantly, with 100 animals and more birds by 1947. African Adventure is a 13-acre extension that includes a variety of animal species in beautiful naturalistic exhibits, as well as various multi-species exhibits that will all work together to recreate the African plains and savannas. A pride of lions, a family herd of African elephants, cheetahs, white rhinos, a giraffe feeding station with 360-degree views of the savanna, and a dine-in restaurant named the Kopje Lodge call African Adventure home! Sea Lion Cove, modeled after Point Lobos, California, is one of the country’s most unique and beautiful new sea lion exhibits. With the sound of crashing waves, salty sea air, barking sea lions, harbor seals, and magnificent brown pelicans, you’ll be transported to the California coast in no time. Sea lions have been one of the most popular display animals at Fresno Chaffee Zoo since 1956. Zoorassic Park is back, and it’s larger and better than ever! This DINO-mite educational display will transport you to the Age of Dinosaurs! Our newly updated limited-time exhibit includes bigger, more life-like animatronic dinosaurs for a immersive immersion into the lives of dinosaurs when they roamed and dominated the world, all while learning about paleontology research. Twiga Terrace, our elevated giraffe feeding station, welcomes you! Get up and personal with five gentle giants as their lengthy tongues take lettuce from your hands! Stingray Bay, as they slide beneath your hands, touch or feed cow-nose rays and southern stingrays. It’s a safe and enjoyable excursion for the entire family. The Winged Wonders Bird Show is an opportunity to watch some of Fresno Chaffee Zoo’s birds in action. This daily, weather permitting, free-flight bird display is included in your ticket. You will be stunned by this fascinating and instructive opportunity to learn about many different species of birds and the conservation challenges surrounding these diverse and unusual birds, with birds soaring above and demonstrating their unique qualities while Zookeepers are present. The Reptile House, the Zoo’s first major exhibit, has proven to be one of the Zoo’s most popular attractions and a guest favorite. The structure was the world’s first computer-controlled reptile show building. More than 40 species of snakes, turtles, and lizards are housed in magnificent jewel box cages at the Reptile House, allowing people to get up close and personal with these unique animals and their environments. The Tropical Rainforest is home to a variety of birds, including sun conures, Inca terns, ringed teals, and roseate spoonbills, as well as vegetation that may be found in any rainforest on the planet. The Tropical Rainforest exhibit was constructed in 1988. The building of a toucan display within the Tropical Rainforest show was finished in 1994. Roo Walkabout is an Australian walk-through exhibit that exhibits red kangaroos, wallaroos, wallabies, emus, and kookaburras in a unique, multi-species display setting, which was completed in September 2016! Wilderness Falls, a Fresno Chaffee Zoo feature, allows you to reconnect with nature. Children may cool down and splash in the waterfall, follow the footsteps and explore the forest, find the fire lookout tower, and more in this interactive area, which opened on May 4, 2018. Measure Z provided the whole funding for this attraction, which opened in June 2017.
